James Ewing Foundation

The James Ewing Foundation was established in 1978 to perpetuate the memory of James Ewing, M.D., the founder of the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) and the physician who is widely regarded as “the Father of Oncology.”

The primary focus of the James Ewing Foundation is the support of education and research in surgical oncology. The Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to advancing Dr. Ewing’s legacy as a researcher and clinician. (More information about Dr. Ewing can be found here.)

The Foundation relies upon contributions from SSO members as well as patients, other private individuals and organizations. Each year the Foundation sponsors the following lectureships and awards in conjunction with the SSO Annual Cancer Symposium:
