Robert Roses, MD, Selected for JSGS Visiting Observership in Japan

robert roses photoSSO members were offered the opportunity by the Japanese Society of Gastroenterological Surgery (JSGS) to apply for a visiting observership in Japan. Thirty applications were received and Robert Roses, MD, Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, was selected as the recipient of the observership.

JSGS will provide Dr. Roses with a stipend of ¥ 800,000 (YEN) to cover travel and accommodation costs during the duration of the exchange which should last up to two weeks in July 2015. He will first visit 2-3 pre-eminent Japanese Surgical Oncology Institutions and observe procedure(s). Following the institution visits, Dr. Roses will then attend the 70th General Meeting of the Japanese Society of Gastroenterological Surgery and will make a 7-minute presentation during the JSGS Congress meeting to discuss their institution experience.
