Two Johns Hopkins gynecologic surgeons are among the first in the nation to perform a robotic hysterectomy using a single, small incision.

Amanda Nickles Fader, an associate professor of gynecologic oncology and director of the Kelly Gynecologic Oncology Service and the Minimally Invasive Surgery Center in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, and Stacey Scheib, an assistant professor of gynecology and obstetrics and director of the Multidisciplinary Fibroid Center in the Division of Gynecologic Specialties, recently performed several other types of single-site robotic gynecologic procedures, including surgery for fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, and ovarian cysts and masses.

Nickles Fader and Scheib have collectively authored more than 25 articles on robotic surgery and single-site laparoscopy in peer-reviewed medical journals. They are among a small group of surgeons in the United States with expertise in this procedure, according to officials at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
