Annals of Surgical Oncology and SSO Launch New PodcastThe Annals of Surgical Oncology (ASO) and SSO have partnered to release a new podcast, Speaking of SurgOnc, hosted by ASO Deputy Editor, Frederick L. (Rick) Greene, MD. Through interviews with SSO members who are experts in the field, podcast episodes will expand upon clinical concepts from articles published in the Annals of Surgical Oncology.

In the first episode, “The 8th Edition of TNM: Implications for the Surgical Oncologist”, Dr. Greene and David R. Byrd, MD discuss the 8th edition of the TNM staging system, which through its advances supports the concept of a team approach to cancer staging by clinical oncologists, including cancer registrars, pathologists, and radiologists. In the second episode, “Melanoma Staging: American Joint Committee on Cancer 8th Edition and Beyond”, Dr. Greene discusses the 8th edition of the TNM staging system for melanoma and its use for communication between physicians and their patients, as well as its impact on decision-making and prognostic assessment with Jeffrey E. Gershenwald, MD who is co-author of the ASO TNM staging editorial, “Melanoma Staging: American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) 8th Edition and Beyond.”

Future episodes will feature conversations with Stephen B. Edge, MD and Timothy M. Pawlik, MD about the 8th edition of the TNM staging system in breast cancer, melanoma, cancer of the pancreas, and hepatobiliary cancers.

New episodes of Speaking of SurgOnc are available monthly on the Society of Surgical Oncology website and wherever you listen to your favorite podcasts, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher and TuneIn.
