Keep Surgical Oncology Research in Reach with Your Donation
Research studies conceived of and conducted by surgeons are important to advancing cancer care. Surgeons are uniquely positioned to conduct pivotal research studies that are critical to determining the best patient outcomes. Yet NIH has awarded limited funding in surgical oncology.
How can we ensure that surgeon scientists have access to research grant fund, even if our own projects don’t depend on SSO support? How do we support our colleagues, former trainees, or mentors in their quest to conduct high-quality surgical oncology research projects?
SSO has awarded more than $4 Million in research grants to SSO surgeon scientists, supporting key studies in numerous disease sites including breast, melanoma, sarcoma, and pancreatic cancer. Forty-four SSO members have been recipients of the Clinical Investigator Award (CIA) or the Young Investigator Award (YIA). SSO will be an ongoing source for research grant support if we make it a priority together to sustain and grow the Research and Education Fund.
