Goals: UTMB Multidisciplinary Breast Fellowship offers an integrated interdisciplinary approach to the management of patients with benign and malignant breast diseases. The fellow will have a strong experience in outpatient as well as intraoperative ultrasound localization and biopsy techniques including percutaneous excisional biopsy and ablation and fluoroscopic intraoperative neoplasm and node detection (FIND). Oncoplastic techniques include but are not limited to round block excision, reduction mammoplasty and nipple skin sparing mastectomy. UTMB is the lead site for the Alliance 221702 ARM trial to prevent lymphedema which includes lympholymphatic and lymphovenous procedures.

Clinical Rotations: The Fellowship includes interdisciplinary evaluation and pre-surgical treatment planning with multiple disciplines including radiology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, genetics, medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, integrative oncology and outreach. Opportunities for pre-clinical and clinical research are available.

Meetings and Conferences: The fellow is expected to participate in the following conferences. Weekly: Grand Rounds, Breast Multidisciplinary Conference, Morbidity and Mortality, Journal Club, Surgery Quality Management, Preoperative Conference.

Eligibility: To be eligible for appointment to the UTMB Breast Surgery Fellowship, the candidate must have completed a general surgery residency, in an accredited program. The individual chosen for this appointment must be eligible to take the qualifying examination of the American Board of Surgery by the time this fellowship is begun.
