Honor Your Mentor with a Donation to the SSO Research and Education Fund

The impact of a mentor can stay with you throughout your entire career; indeed, throughout your life. Providing guidance, inspiration, and wisdom, a good mentor sets their trainees on a path for success. Honor those individuals today with a donation to the SSO Research and Education Fund.

Dr. Ronald DeMatteo, SSO Treasurer, recently donated to the SSO Research and Education Fund and shared his deep appreciation for two of his mentors, Dr. Leslie Blumgart and Dr. Murray Brennan, in an episode of SSO’s podcast, SurgOnc Today®.

Dr. DeMatteo said, “From Dr. Blumgart, I learned several key things, besides doing complex hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery. And the first was he treated his clinical team extremely well, including not just clinical staff but everyone, creating an overall positive environment.”

“Dr. Brennan obviously was a very unique individual. I learned tenacity at multiple levels, in surgery, solving clinical problems, even administration,” said Dr. DeMatteo.

Listen to the complete episode, hosted by Dr. Sandra Wong, SSO Vice President.
